The Indian automotive market is eagerly awaiting the arrival of an electric car that could disrupt the industry with its impressive features and affordability. Chinese automobile manufacturer Bestune Brand introduced its latest small electric car in 2023, making waves due to its remarkable range and cost-effectiveness. The company has pioneered advanced battery technology, enabling rapid charging and extended mileage. This innovation was showcased in the launch of the Bestune Xiaoma, also known as Xiaomi. Priced between 30,000 to 50,000 yuan (approximately ₹3.47 lakh to ₹5.78 lakh), this EV boasts a driving range of up to 1,200 km on a full charge.
Bestune Xiaoma to Compete in the Indian Market
The FAW Bestune Xiaoma is set to rival the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which is currently one of the most popular micro electric vehicles in China. Given the growing demand for compact electric cars, India is eagerly anticipating its arrival. The company is expected to make an announcement regarding its launch in the Indian market soon. Upon its entry, it will compete directly with models like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
Features and Specifications of the Bestune Xiaoma Electric Car
The Bestune Xiaoma is available in both hardtop and convertible variants. Currently, only the hardtop version is available for sale, while the introduction of the convertible variant remains uncertain. The car is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system for an enhanced driving experience.
The dashboard features an attractive dual-tone theme, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The Shaoma’s dual-tone color scheme gives it a futuristic, animated look. It is designed with large, square headlamps with rounded edges, adding to its distinctive profile. The aerodynamic wheels further contribute to improved efficiency and extended range.
Performance and Platform Details
Built on the FME platform, the Bestune Xiaoma benefits from an EV-dedicated chassis. Previously, a ride-hailing electric vehicle called NAT was developed on this platform. The FME architecture is divided into two sub-platforms—A1 and A2.
- A1 Sub-Platform: Designed for subcompact and compact cars with a wheelbase ranging from 2700mm to 2850mm.
- A2 Sub-Platform: Supports vehicles with a wheelbase between 2700mm and 3000mm.
The electric variant of the car delivers a range exceeding 800 km, while the range extender version can cover up to 1,200 km. Both versions are built on an 800V architecture. The micro-EV is powered by a single 20 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle.

The Bestune Xiaoma utilizes a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Goshan and REPT. In terms of safety, the vehicle comes equipped with a driver-side airbag. It features a three-door design and has the following dimensions:
